You seem too happy to reveal yourself

This semester...

Well hello. Wednesday I will be closing out my first semester at Texas Woman's University. It has been a good semester, and there is a chance I'll make all A's this go round. I have read more this semester than...well, its been a lot. Here are some books I've read and what not.

"Ceremony", Leslie Marmon Silko: It was well written, I enjoyed the style, and the subject matter was interesting. Despite all this I hated this book. I hated it so much that I'm going to keep it and probably read it again one day so it can make me mad all over again. Seriously, I hated this book but I couldn't put it down. But, at the end of the day, isn't that was a book/movie/art is supposed to do for you? So long as it makes you feel some emotion strong enough, isn't that worth it? I hated this fucking book; you can get your copy here.

"Tracks", Louise Erdrich: This book ruled ass! I thought it was fantastic. That may have been because I read "Ceremony" before and it just made "Tracks" rock that much harder, but whatever the case may be, its awesome. This book sucked me in so I couldn't put it down. I read this book in one sitting (I know, wow). Everyone should read this book just for Fluer (an Indian girl and the novels main character) alone. Get your copy here.

"The Woman Warrior", Maxine Hong Kingston: This book was wonderful and "No Name Woman" is one of the most beatuifully sad stories I've ever read. This book ruled ass. Get a copy for yourself.

"The Joy Luck Club", Amy Tan: This book was great. Really gives a lot of insight on Chinese mother-daughter relationships. This book can make you laugh, cry, and get really pissed. It is great. Buy this book. Also, check out The Rock Bottom Remainders.

"The Bluest Eye", Toni Morrison: This is the story of a sweet little girl named Pecola Breedlove and is one of the saddest books I've ever read. Think of all the fucked up shit that could happen to a kid and that is Pecola's life. Read it, its fantastic.

"Sula", also by Morrison: This is an awesome novel about the everylasting friendship between two girls, Sula and Nel. I know that sounds cheesy, but there's lots of tradgedy in the book so you know its good! Buy Sula.

"Bless Me, Ultima", Rudolfo Anaya: This is a coming of age novel about a wee one named Antonio and the special bond he has with Ultima. It is an awesome story filled with magical fish, boys with girls names, boys with no real names, death, and some humor all mixed in. Buy it here.

"The House on Mango Street", Sandra Cisneros: I'm sure that most of you have heard of this book. I really loved it. It is written using vignettes, so it has a very journal/diary like feel to it. I liked this because it makes it seem like you are growing with the narrator, Esperanza. Great book, read it.

"The Awakening", Kate Chopin: This is an awesome book. Kate Chopin is amazing anyhow, and she shows that shes not all short stories with this effort. It is awesome. .

"Zenzle: A Letter for my Daughter",
J. Nozipo Maraire: I learned alot about Zimbabwe. Again, another great mother-daughter story. This book could teach you alot about life shit, its great.

...............and a fuckload of short stories!!!!!!

What's gonna happen you ask: We are back home tonight and the Mavs should be pissed. I mean, if someone made me their bitch and like it for a night I'd be upset. They are gonna come out swinging. Remember, we are not A fourth quarter team, we are THE FOURTH QUARTER TEAM. So get ready to be seeing more of this Dirk (best pic ever):

....and if by some crazy whim they lose you ask? Well, then I will probably set myself on fire. See you after the game!
